Julie Carlson
Clinical Social Worker
Julie has been providing therapeutic services to children, youth, adults, and families for over 18 years. In addition to private practice, Julie has worked in health care and community organizations. She provides assessment, consultation, and therapy. Julie utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities with her clients, including Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectical Behavioral, Self-Regulation, Mindfulness-based, and Solution-Focused approaches. She has an interest in mind/body approaches. Julie specializes in the assessment and treatment of mental health issues, including Anxiety, Depression, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. She also has particular interest in attachment and attachment disorders, complex developmental issues in children/youth, and chronic pain in youth/adults. Julie strongly believes in working with clients to build on their strengths and their existing health.
Julie conducts presentations and workshops on various topics related to mental health, parenting, and chronic pain. She also teaches classes in Mindfulness Meditation. Julie is actively involved in clinical research and has university partnerships.
Julie is a Registered Clinical Social Worker and a member of the B.C. Association of Social Workers. She volunteers on the Psychosocial Responders Team with the BC Disaster Stress and Trauma Response Services. She is a Board of Directors Member for two Microboards. Julie is a registered service provider for the Crime Victim Assistance Program and for Veterans Affairs.
